Chris Slack, who manages the Arts and Craft Market for the Chamber, recently presented a cheque for £1000 on behalf of Brixham Chamber to Pete Beresford, Chairman of the Brixham Pirate Festival 2016.

Chris said “The Pirate Festival is hugely important to the town. As the first major festival of the year in early May, it brings in a vast number of visitors to Brixham and a massive amount of revenue into local businesses.

“We are able to support events like the Pirate Festival through the profits generated from the local markets which the Chamber operates. These profits are ring-fenced for projects which increase visitor numbers, generate additional footfall within the town centre or enhance the town centre for locals and visitors alike.”

The Pirate Festival runs from Saturday 30th April to Monday 2nd May and begins with the Pirate Procession on Saturday morning. At 10.30am Styx Drummers will lead the motley crew of pirates through town to the Main Stage by the harbour, for more drumming and canon fire at 11.00 to declare the festival open.
