Shoalstone Seawater Pool has won the BBC Make a Difference Award in the Community Group category.
This recognition goes to all the volunteers (including the trustees), staff and everyone who uses and supports Shoalstone. What a way to end the season!
There are lots of happy faces here in Brixham after hearing that we have won this Award. It is recognition of all the effort everyone is putting into the ‘Save from the Waves’ campaign.
Our Volunteers, including the trustees, contribute throughout the year to keeping Shoalstone open, safe and free. The voluntary maintenance team are crucial as are the events team, fund raising for essential maintenance projects to protect the pool from the elements.
To save the pool is a race against Tide & Time – we are up against our toughest deadline yet. Shoalstone Seawater Pool is in danger of collapse and in urgent need of major repairs: fundraising is focused on our ‘Save Shoalstone from the Waves’ campaign. There are possible funders waiting in the wings – but we need to raise match funding from local sources and local councils, and this needs to be in place by the end of this year. We are now racing against the clock to get the money in before funders walk away and the pool collapses.
Our fundraising continues with our popular – Doggy Swim – a date for your diary. SUNDAY October 29th Time: 11:00 am – 12:00 noon Donation: £5.00 per pooch – fun for all at Shoalstone this autumn.
