On 16th December 2016, we will be holding a Bingo evening to raise money for the materials to make one hundred strings of unique BRIXHAM bunting. (Unique because each of the strings will contain an embroidered or other graphic designed and produced by a Brixham resident or business.) These materials will be used in a competition, the idea of which is to not only save the council £1,000 from their hard-pressed budget, enabling them to spend the money on other community projects, but also enabling proud Brixham residents to share their ideas as to what makes their wonderful town so special.
If the bingo evening succeeds in its goal, which will only be made possible through your kind assistance, we will buy the materials necessary and then launch the competition immediately after Christmas and the New Year, with competition packs being very kindly held and distributed for us by the Brixham Sewing Box. (Before this date anyone interested can obtain further details of the competition from the Chamber Secretary, Martyn Green, by emailing him on Martyn.green1@tiscali.co.uk .)
The first step, however, is the Bingo evening for which we need lots of prizes to make it not only a very enjoyable night for us to attend but also a successful one in terms of raising the money necessary for the materials. If you would like to donate one or more prizes for the evening – and our thanks to those who have already been kind enough to offer – could you please take them into Twit Twoo, Union Lane, Brixham where Jo and Mark have very kindly offered to store them for us.
All in all, the bingo evening has the potential to not only be a lot of fun but also enable us to launch a community-led project that could be of considerable media interest. Not only could the ensuing bunting make the town look even more cheerful than usual but it could help to drive extra footfall in our direction, which has got to be good. Any help that you can give would be very much appreciated.’
