Youngsters in Brixham are being invited to design a new Christmas light for the town, with a deadline for submissions on July 15. In addition to making and displaying the
new sign, the winning school will be given a cash prize of £100 by Lighting Up Brixham.
The group Lighting Up Brixham, led by Vix Pritchard-Davies and Neil Worrell, have pledged to improve Christmas and seasonal lighting in and around Brixham Harbour.
They will choose a winning design, create it, and hang it in the harbour where it will be turned on by the competition winner.
Thousands of Christmas visitors to the town will see the design, and it will feature prominently on the Marine and Towage Services building on the harbourside.
Lighting Up Brixham aims to encourage interest in creating exciting Christmas light designs around the central harbour area and on the key shopping roads and streets.
The initiative is for both individuals and businesses. Vix and Neil, both from Brixham, will continue their initiative for new Christmas lights in the town to ensure Brixharn has the best lights in the west. Vix already has experience organising two of Brixham’s famous festivals, Fishstock and BrixFest, and she has won various awards including Queen of the Bay for her social media. She will be responsible for organising sponsorship and coordinating business involvement.
Neil is responsible for the new lighting designs and commissioning the new lights.
Vix said: “I’m really excited to do something for the town and the people that I love the most. We will succeed because we have such a positive, vibrant town and such passionate people already in the community, as well as a booming fishing industry of course!”
