On Monday 24th October our Chair and Vice Chair had the opportunity to join a meeting between councillors and the developers of the Inglewood housing estate, regarding the proposed lengthy closure of Brixham Road beyond Windy Corner in 2023.

We have grave concerns over the plans presented by the developers, in particular with the lack of any data to convince us that their traffic diversion plans will be able to cope with the volume of traffic which will need to use these roads. We fear that our peninsula town could be effectively cut off by gridlocked traffic for long periods every day during these works.

This week we are writing to Torbay Council to request they demand proof from the developers, by means of detailed traffic modelling, that the proposed diversion system is capable of handling the increased flow of traffic in and out of Brixham at peak times. We will be requesting that until this proof is provided, they do not authorise the proposed works to proceed.

We will also be communicating with our MP and various local organisations including our fishing industry, which incredibly do not seem to have been consulted at any time in this process so far.

This website will be updated with a more comprehensive position statement later this week and we will add updates when we hear about them.
