The works are currently on programme for re-opening the road on 31st March and finishing this phase of work after Easter through to mid-May under traffic management measures.
Brixham remains open for business
We are now 10 days into the closure of a stretch of Brixham Road and thankfully the diversion routes, coupled with changes in driving behaviour, seem to be coping well. Outside of peak times there is very limited delay to journey times. Brixham remains open for...

Update on Brixham Road closure – 23rd Dec
We have been concerned since we came across the plans in mid-October that the proposed diversions won’t be able to cope with the volume of traffic (both cars and HGVs).
As we approach the closure date we still fear the impact could be significant but are hoping that our fears will be unfounded as we now have some reasons for optimism.
Update on Brixham Road closure
The points we put to Deeley Freed and Persimmon in recent weeks have been completely ignored. We are appalled at the approach they have taken to this project throughout the planning stages, never once engaging with the community which they are putting at such risk.
We are considering our options and discussing potential next steps within our community and with our fishing and tourism industries, local education providers and other groups.

In our open letter last week we asked the developers to respond by 6th December with their conclusions to our three suggestions: That far better analysis of the capacity of their diversions should be provided before Torbay Council should agree to close the road; That a...
Open Letter re Inglewood Road Closure, 27th November
There was a palpable sense of incredulity and indignation within the room at your proposals for the road closure and associated diversions, due to both (a) the impact it could have on the lives and livelihoods of thousands and (b) the complete lack of engagement you have had with Brixham businesses, residents or community groups about this.
Brixham Road Closure: some progress but major concerns remain
We were given an update from the developers of the Persimmon Homes estate on Wednesday 16th November. The developers presented us with some improvements to their plans, which they are pushing the council to sign off ASAP so they can start on their scheduled date of January 3rd. We welcome part of the news but still have major concerns.
Brixham Road Proposed Closure – HAVE YOUR SAY
Torbay Council have opened a webpage with details of the proposed road closure of Brixham Road as part of the Inglewood development. Within this page there is the opportunity to share your views with the council.
We urge all local residents and businesses to add their thoughts to this portal. The more voices shouting about the potential impacts of this closure on our town, the more likely the council is to think twice before signing off the plans.
