Kelly’s Hero Charters can offer awesome Fishing Charters, Bird Watching & Wildlife Tours. We are family-owned and operated from Brixham, Devon. Great Fishing Charters take place onboard our baby ‘Kelly’s Hero’ a 335 HP Cummins powered ‘Lochin 33’.Make sure you come down and see Dave and his crew for a great time out on the Torbay Coastline and surrounds!
Kelly’s Hero was built-in 1974 at a Swansea boatyard, she’s a ‘Lochin 33‘ Sports Fisherman. Let’s say, that in the day, the ‘Lochin 33’ was a real gentleman’s fishing boat. We purchased her in the Autumn of 1999 from Burry Port, from a guy whose name was ironically Brian Kelley. Brian named all his boats Kelleys Hero. So, we just dropped the ‘e’ and kept her apt name…
It’s fair to say, she’s a true 4 x 4 of the sea. In fact, many were used in the early years of manufacture as Lifeboats. And, that’s one of the reasons we purchased her, strength and reliability when the seas get rough.
She currently has a very capable, Cummins 6CTA pre-electronic engine, spinning a 5 bladed prop. Due to her weight, she’s not the fastest and never will be. However, she is built to be stable and able to cut through anything that is put in front of her. For me, Kelly’s Hero is a boat I really love to be skippering…
