Membership of Brixham Chamber continues to increase month on month, reaching 116 businesses at the end of October 2014, more than three times higher than this time last year.
As Membership Secretary Jacqui Shaw said; “Our membership continues to grow strongly from many different sectors of business in the town. I’d like to say thank you on behalf of the Chamber to all our members, your support contributes to the valuable work we do promoting local businesses and the aesthetic feel of the town. We are delighted to welcome recent additions, Barclays Bank, Brixham Express, Brixham Heritage Museum, Brookside Guest House, The New Quay Inn, Nicky Stevenson Gallery, PSP Insurance Brokers, Doble Jewellers, Mifsuds Photographic Equipment, Stephanies Beauty Salon and CEE Business Development.”
The Chamber has also introduced a new level of membership, Corporate Member, for larger organisations who are in a position through corporate policies to contribute more to the Chamber and the community. Stagecoach South West is the first organisation to join as a Corporate Member.
Stagecoach’s MD, Mike Watson, visited the town recently and met with Chamber Executive members, Angela George, Keith Williams and Simon James to discuss local business and transport issues. As Mike said; “I was amazed at the excellent work the Chamber is doing in harnessing the enthusiasm of so many local businesses.”
After hearing about the Chamber’s activities and future plans, Mike immediately said he would like Stagecoach to become the first ever Corporate Member. As he explained; “It represents a valuable contribution towards enabling the Chamber to provide a wide range of services for the smaller Member companies, as well as raising the profile of Stagecoach and confirming our status as a leading and supportive organisation within the area.”
As Angela said; “ We are grateful for the support and encouragement from Mike, as the Chamber continue working hard to improve trade and conditions in Brixham. We had a great brainstorming session to discuss new ideas for Stagecoach to work more closely with the Chamber in the coming year. “
