Two notable buinesses in Brixham have recently changed hands, The Rio fish Restaurant and Ella’s Chocolate House and Tea Rooms, both acquired by the Johnson family.
Bridget and Steve from Rio’s said “We wish to thank all our loyal customers for their support throughout the years. After 17 years and Steve’s ill health, we are retiring from the Rio after serving thousands of wonderful people. We will miss you all. Rio’s will always have a special place in our heart, and of course we will always have Fishtown to look back on, which is something we are very proud of.
A massive thankyou goes out to our loyal and hardworking team Tony Coll & Martine Bentley, we will miss you too. And finally good luck to Hayley Johnson, we wish you all the best in your new business.”
Tracy Clarke of Ella’s said “I have made the decision for the time being to now operate solely online at chocella.co.uk with focus now being totally on chocolate. I’m very sad to be relinquishing the reins of Ella’s but I’m very pleased to be handing over to someone who I have admired and respected from a distance before joining Ella’s but had the absolute pleasure of working with this summer – Hayley Johnson, whom most of you know previously from the Chart Room in Brixham. Hayley is a fantastic baker and has a wealth of experience running her own tearooms. Hayley will not only be looking after Ellas, she along with her family are now the proud owners of Rio’s Fish & Chip Shop in Brixham and I’m sure with all her family’s support Hayley will do an absolutely brilliant job at both ventures.
My focus will now move fully into the chocolate world continuing with our great range of Chocella’s chocolates, finishing my book and starting a new chocolate venture that I’m very excited about. So do stay in touch and with me on this exciting journey and follow me @chocellabrixham on Facebook & Instagram to hear about all of my chocolate goings on.
I’ve had the most fantastic time over the last 5 years, made some great friends and super memories along the way. Once again thanks to you all for your support, keep in touch.”
